VehTap is a privacy-first vehicle contact tag system owned and operated by Endurance Matrix, based in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the VehTap website (vehtap.com), purchase a VehTap product, or activate and use a VehTap tag.
By using VehTap, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy. This policy is governed by the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
Account and activation data
- Phone number — collected at tag activation, linked permanently to your tag
- Vehicle details — make, model, and registration plate number, entered at activation
- Name — optional, entered at activation
- Email address — collected at the time of purchase
Order and delivery data
- Delivery address — collected for physical product orders (Pro Tag and Pro Tag Duo)
- Order details — product purchased, amount paid, order date
Payment data
Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. VehTap does not store your card number, CVV, or any sensitive payment credentials. We retain only the transaction reference and amount for our records.
Usage and scan data
- Scan logs — when your tag is scanned, we log the time and the tag identifier. We do not log the identity, phone number, or device information of the person scanning your tag.
- Device and browser information — standard web server logs including IP address, browser type, and pages visited, collected automatically when you use the website.
3. What We Do NOT Collect or Share
Privacy is the core of VehTap. We want to be explicit about what we do not do:
- We never reveal your phone number to the person scanning your tag.
- We never reveal the scanner's phone number to you.
- We do not record or store the content of any call, SMS, or message relayed through our system.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes.
- We do not use your data to serve you advertisements.
- We do not share your vehicle details or personal information with any third party except as described in Section 5 (Third-Party Processors) and Section 7 (Legal Disclosure).
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data solely for the following purposes:
- To activate and operate your VehTap tag
- To relay contact attempts from scanners to your registered phone number, without disclosing your number to the scanner
- To send you order confirmation and product delivery emails
- To send you tag activation instructions and PDF delivery
- To process your payment and maintain transaction records
- To dispatch physical products to your delivery address
- To respond to support queries and grievance requests
- To maintain the security and integrity of the platform
- To comply with applicable laws and legal obligations
We do not use your data for any purpose beyond what is listed above without obtaining your consent.
5. Third-Party Processors
VehTap uses third-party technology providers to deliver core platform functionality. These providers process your data solely to provide their respective services and are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.
The categories of third-party providers we use include:
- Payment processing — to securely handle your purchase transaction
- Communication relay — to facilitate masked calling and SMS between scanners and tag owners
- Email delivery — to send you order confirmations, activation emails, and support communications
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure — to host and operate the VehTap platform and store your data securely
- SMS delivery — to send OTP verification codes during tag activation
We do not authorise any third-party provider to use your personal data for their own purposes beyond the service they provide to us. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of the relevant providers independently.
From time to time, we may add, replace, or discontinue third-party providers to improve or maintain the Service. Such changes will be reflected in an updated version of this policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active or as required to provide the Services.
Specific retention periods:
- Account and activation data — retained for the lifetime of your active account
- Order and payment records — retained as required by applicable Indian tax and financial regulations
- Scan logs — retained for 30 days, after which they are automatically deleted
- Device and web server logs — retained for a reasonable period for security and operational purposes
Upon account deletion, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, subject to any legal retention obligations that require us to retain certain records.
7. Legal Disclosure
We may disclose your personal data to law enforcement, regulatory authorities, or courts if we are required to do so by applicable law, court order, or legal process.
We may also disclose data where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of VehTap, our users, or the public
- Investigate fraud, abuse, or misuse of the platform
- Respond to a verified legal request from an authorised government authority
In all such cases, we will disclose only the minimum data necessary to satisfy the legal requirement.
8. Scanner Data
Scanners — individuals who scan a VehTap tag to contact a vehicle owner — are not registered users of VehTap and do not create an account.
When a scanner scans a tag:
- We do not collect the scanner's name, email, or identity
- We do not permanently store the scanner's phone number
- We log the scan event (time and tag identifier) for operational and security purposes only
- The scanner's phone number is used solely to relay the contact attempt to the tag owner and is not stored after the relay is complete
VehTap's masked relay system is designed so that neither the scanner nor the tag owner can identify the other's phone number through the platform.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS)
- Secure cloud infrastructure with access controls
- Phone number verification via OTP before tag activation
- No storage of sensitive payment credentials on our servers
While we take all reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and you use the Service at your own risk.
10. Your Rights
Under applicable Indian data protection law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Right to access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to correction — you may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data
- Right to deletion — you may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting support@vehtap.com
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

11. Cookies
VehTap uses only essential cookies necessary to operate the platform, including session cookies required for authentication and secure login.
We do not use:

You may disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect your ability to log in or use certain features of the platform.
12. Children
VehTap is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us at support@vehtap.com and we will delete it promptly.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or applicable law. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users via email. Your continued use of VehTap following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
